As one who appreciates all forms of art and entertainment, I’m often on the hunt for events to attend but don’t want to drive too far. Not too far for me means Denton and the surrounding area.
So I do an online search and found discoverdenton.com. Several things catch my eye.
First, I’m bummed. Had I taken the time to do the search last week I would have been reminded of the Annual Texas Storytelling Festival. If you’ve never been, mark your calendar for next year, this is a great event. As an avid reader I love hearing (while visualizing) stories come to life by storytellers (and I mean really good storytellers). And there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Then I came across the Materials: Hard + Soft exhibit at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center (located at 400 E. Hickory St.) running now through May 5th. It’s been recognized as one of the premiere craft exhibitions in the country. This is a must see on my list.
Looking for a little night time entertainment I check out whose playing Live Jazz @ Steve’s Wine Bar (located at 219 E. Hickory Street) Wednesday and Thursday nights. Always a good time to be had at this cozy place with good friends, great wine and good music from local musicians!
I also noticed Live Jazz at the Greenhouse at Greenhouse Restaurant & Bar (located at 600 N. Locust Street) on Monday nights, showcasing talent from UNT and TWU. Something new to explore, great!
I’m set for this month. I vow to start this search earlier for April so I don’t miss out on anything. And, if you know of something happening in Denton or any of the surrounding cities (Highland Village, Flower Mound, Lewisville, Argyle, etc.), let me know. Always looking for new things to do or places to visit.
